Death to SASE's...

Henry Holt just announced their new policy of no response unless contacted by the publisher and to not send SASE's.

Hallelujah!

So, that makes three houses with this policy (Houghton Mifflin, Dial, now Holt). I do hope more will follow. No one needs to wait 13 months for a form and no one needs to send exclusively anymore. This step of throwing away unwanted ms's is a step toward a saner writer's world!!! WEE!

What's weird about Houghton is that I continued to get rejections from them even after they initiated their policy of only replying if they're interested, and after I had stopped sending SASE's. I guess they just really, really wanted to make sure I knew they were rejecting my manuscripts. I haven't sent them anything in a while, though...

You get forms? Well, all I can say is better their stamp than ours. I know one of their authors hasn't received any rejections since they implemented the policy. I wonder if they are holding and she should check in.
